چکیده

Methods Myocardial blood flow (MBF) was determined by measuring coronary sinus flow with velocity-encoded cine magnetic resonance imaging at 3 teslas. We measured MBF at baseline and in response to sympathetic stimulation by cold pressor testing (CPT) in 17 healthy volunteers with normal left ventricular function (age 24 ±6 years, BMI=21.1±2.6kg/m2). Efat volume was volumetrically assessed by manual delineation on short-axis views. CPT was applied by immersing one foot in ice water for 4 minutes.

Association of remnant lipoprotein levels with impairment of endothelium-dependent vasomotor function in human coronary arteries.

BACKGROUND It remains undetermined whether triglyceride-rich lipoproteins are an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis. METHODS AND RESULTS The correlation of responses of coronary arterial diameter (quantitative coronary angiography) and coronary blood flow (intracoronary flow wire technique) to intracoronary infusion of acetylcholine (10 and 50 microg/min) with coronary risk factors i...

Polymorphism in glutamate-cysteine ligase modifier subunit gene is associated with impairment of nitric oxide-mediated coronary vasomotor function.

BACKGROUND The minor -588T allele of polymorphism -588C/T of a modifier subunit gene in glutamate-cysteine ligase (GCLM), a rate-limiting enzyme for glutathione (GSH) synthesis, was associated with lower plasma GSH levels and was a risk factor for myocardial infarction. METHODS AND RESULTS We examined effects of the -588C/T polymorphism on coronary arterial diameter and blood flow responses t...

Intracoronary infusion of reduced glutathione improves endothelial vasomotor response to acetylcholine in human coronary circulation.

BACKGROUND Oxygen free radicals have been shown to cause endothelial vasomotor dysfunction. This study examined the effect of reduced glutathione (GSH), an antioxidant, on human coronary circulation. METHODS AND RESULTS Responses of epicardial diameter and blood flow of the left anterior descending coronary artery to intracoronary infusion of acetylcholine (ACh, 50 microg/min) were measured b...

Plasma level of oxidized low-density lipoprotein is an independent determinant of coronary macrovasomotor and microvasomotor responses induced by bradykinin.

OBJECTIVES We examined the relationship between coronary endothelium-dependent vasodilation in response to bradykinin (BK) and plasma levels of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) in subjects with normal coronary arteries. BACKGROUND It is unclear whether the plasma oxLDL level is a determinant of coronary endothelial function. Bradykinin plays an important role in regulating resting cor...

Ethinyl Estradiol Acutely Attenuates Abnormal Coronary Vasomotor Responses to Acetlcholine in Postmenopausal Women

Background Estrogen administration in postmenopausal women is associated with a 50% reduction in the clinical manifestations of coronary artery disease. The mechanisms are not known, although one potential explanation is estrogen-induced modulation of coronary vasoreactivity. Acetylcholine is an endothelium-dependent vasodilator that may be used to assess coronary vasoreactivity and elicits cor...
